As the book of Romans comes to its conclusion, the Holy Spirit gives these words of warning.
Please read the following verses.
17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of naive people.
19 Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you, but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.
20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
These words bring a concern to me. In our denomination, we are treading in dangerous waters.
Instead of following scripture, some are making their own scripture.
They have fancied idols.
No not idols of wood and metal.
They have fashioned a Jesus and God who suits their fancy. Instead of changing their lives to agree with scripture, they are changing scripture.
In our denomination, we are not all building on the same foundation.
We may all say we are building on Christ, but when the Christ we are building on is not the Christ of the Bible, we are doomed to fail.
I do not know how all this controversy and ill feelings are going to work out.
I remain a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I believe that all mankind are sinners and that Jesus gave up His life to pay for the sons of this world; all the sins, past, present, and future.
I believe that Christ was buried and resurrected. Moreover, when I accepted Christ’s blood for my sins, the Holy Spirit baptized me into the Body of Christ.
As a Christ believer and follower, I am wary.
I would pray that our denomination would be wary.
May the Lord God, Jesus Christ lead, guide and protect us as we warily move forward.
