“What a Bunch of Hypocrites”

Well, in truth I guess we are all hypocrites. We do things that we tell others not to. We don’t do things we tell people should be done.
The Pharisees had a hypocrisy issue also.

Please read the following verses. Matthew 21:12-17

12 Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a ‘den of robbers.'”
14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.
16 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.”Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read,”‘From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise’?”17 And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.

Did you see the hypocrisy? They almost had a carnival-like attitude going on in the temple. They were selling and trading animals, making unfair currency transactions. I am sure it was loud with a lot of talking and bartering and what not.
According to the Pharisees, this was okay. They had quite the atmosphere going on at the temple, and it wasn’t advantageous to worship.

Then the children at the temple are shouting out to the Lord Jesus Christ, praising Him. I am sure that was loud also.
We are told the Pharisees were indignant. The children had a different atmosphere happening at the temple, an atmosphere of worship.
The children were not only doing what was right, but they were also fulfilling prophesy.

Do we go to Church to be entertained or do we go to Church to worship the Lord our God? When the band, the preacher, and the atmosphere they create become more important than the Word of God, there is a problem, a big problem.

May we all spend more time praising the Lord God than admiring the way He is presented. Don’t be hypocrites, don’t get sidetracked like the Pharisees. Be like the children and understand what is important.
Have a tremendous day in the Lord,

Let everything that has breath (this includes you) Praise and thank the Lord.

Be Blessed,

Be a Blessing;

Amen
