A Thought for Today – February 12, 2020

“Talk is Cheap “
How many times have you made a bold statement?
Maybe you are talking about someone you know that made a mistake.
You say, well I would never have done what they did.
Please, read the following verses.
Matthew 26:31-35
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
31 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:
‘I will strike the Shepherd,
And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.”
33 Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”
34 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!”
And so said all the disciples.
OK, did Peter and the other disciples lie on purpose? Of course not, they said the obvious, what they would do when confronted with the reality that it would cost them to follow Jesus.
Peter puts it out there, even if the rest of these guys cave to the pressure of the Roman soldiers and religious leaders, you can count on me, Jesus.
How many of us would have made this bold prediction?
Probably most of us.
All of this to say, be careful what you say. We can make plans for what we would do if confronted by a certain issue, but we will never know our exact actions until we are in the situation.
Instead of making bold statements, draw closer to the One who will help you do what He wants when we are involved in the situations, sometimes difficult situations of life.
Be Blest, Be a Blessing.
