A Thought for the Day “Let it Shine?”

I invite you to read the following verses.

Mark 4:21-25
21 He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?
22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.
23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”

24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you — and even more.
25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.”

Now I cannot read this without thinking of a song that we sang in Bible school. The Church I grew up in was fairly formal. So when we had Bible school, we sang all these neat songs. Our Church organist would play them on a piano. I didn’t think she could play cool songs like these.

Bible school was definitely one of my favorite times of the year and the singing of these new (to me) songs was great.
So without further ado, here it is.

“This Little Light of Mine

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine,
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Hide it under a bushel, no!
I’m gonna let it shine
Hide it under a bushel, no!
I’m gonna let it shine,
Hide it under a bushel, no!
I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine

Don’t let Satan blow it out
I’m gonna let it shine
Don’t let Satan blow it out
I’m gonna let it shine
Don’t let Satan blow it out
I’m gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Let it shine til Jesus comes
I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine til Jesus comes
I’m gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
