“Working in All Things”
Have you ever thought the Lord God has abandoned you?
Things happen, they are not things that you expect. Perhaps you lose a spouse, a sibling, a parent, a child, a baby.
What a gut punch these things can be. And in our sorrow and despair, sometimes we lash out at the Lord.
The sons of Jacob hated their brother Joseph. He was Jacob’s favorite, Jacob didn’t even try to hide that fact.
So Joseph’s brothers made it look like Joseph was killed by a wild animal and told their father that lie. What they did, was sell Joseph to slave traders.
I am not going to tell you the whole story here, you can find it in the book of Genesis. Let’s just say Joseph’s life was very interesting in Egypt. He was sold as a slave, he was soon the one with the highest authority in the house except for his master.
Through no fault of his own, he is thrown in the dungeon. Again, he pretty much runs the dungeon. Then the Lord God allows Joseph to interpret a dream. Joseph rises in power to second in command, he only answers to Pharoah.
When Joseph meets his brothers, later on, they are convinced Joseph will try to harm them. (This is a fascinating account. Take the time to read it in Genesis from Genesis 37 till the end) They realize they are at their brother’s mercy.
Please read the following verses. Genesis 50:15-21
15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?” 16 So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father left these instructions before he died: 17 ‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept.18 His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said.19 But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. 21 So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.
When life goes south when it seems as if you are all alone, remember the account of Joseph. Life kept knocking him down, with the help of the Lord, Joseph would rise up, each time to a higher level of authority. The Lord God is moving and working in all areas of our life. We know that because of faith. Scripture says it, we believe it.
Have a tremendous day in the Lord,
Let everything that has breath (this includes you) Praise and thank the Lord.
Be a Blessing;
