(This must be an important message for today. Adrian Rogers’s devotional was supposed to be for yesterday, but it came too late and I used another. The devotional for today is late, so I used yesterdays. I wrote my Thought before I read Adrian Rogers’s devotional. I could not believe how many things in common we wrote about. The Lord God sure is amazing. )
“The Truth Must be Silenced “
This thought was the motto of the Jewish religious leaders. They had it made for a long time. Then along came Jesus. Jesus is the truth, so they silenced the truth by getting rid of Jesus. I guess they felt good about that until 3 days later. But finally, Jesus ascended; the religious leader’s problems over, they supposed.
Now they had to deal with Jesus’ disciples. What gives, these guys were wimps and now they were so bold spreading the truth of Jesus Christ.
They must be silenced and they were, most by being killed, only the apostle John lived into old age.
Then along comes Stephen, and the truth. He must be silenced and he is. ‘
Please read the following verses,
54 When they heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” 57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
So now that is the end of Christianity. Well no, one of their own, one that could be counted on to silence the truth, Saul of Tarsus is converted by Jesus Christ. He is Christ’s bulldog of faith and truth. He must be silenced and finally is. Then that is the end of Christianity, no.
Through the years, no matter how bad the world has become, there is a faithful remnant serving the Lord Jesus Christ. If you are a believer you are one of this faithful remnant.
The Lord God continues to work through and use people who are willing. We may not feel qualified to work for the Lord.
It has been said the Lord God doesn’t necessarily call the qualified, but He will always qualify the called.
May you have a great day in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Be Blest, Be a Blessing.
