“Who is Jesus?”
Jesus’ contemporaries often asked that question. Oh how they struggled understanding who He was.
He explained who He was several times. Please read the following verses and see one of those times.
John 8:21-27 21 Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.” 22 This made the Jews ask, “Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, ‘Where I go, you cannot come’?” 23 But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am [the one I claim to be], you will indeed die in your sins.” 25 “Who are you?” they asked.”Just what I have been claiming all along,” Jesus replied. 26 “I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is reliable, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.” 27 They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.
One of the reasons they could not figure out who Jesus was, is that beforehand they decided who He was not. They decided He could not be their Messiah. He did not fit into “their Messiah’s role.”
Who is Jesus? That question is still asked, even 20000 years later. I know who He is because I have read His very words, telling me who He is. I know who Jesus is because I have not come up with my own conclusions about who He is not. I count on the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to inform me.
Here is a list of who Jesus is. He is the Son of God, He is the great I am, He is the Light of the World, He is God’s suffering servant, He is Lord and master of all, He is the creator of all the seen and unseen, He is the one who will judge the world, He sanctifies, glorifies, justifies, takes my sin away, He is the bread of life, He is love, He is Majestic, Sovereign, He is Savior for all. This is not everything He is, but I think I will stop there.
To understand who Jesus is, get in His Word. Through His Holy Spirit working within believers, He will tell you who He is.
Be Blest, Be a Blessing.
