“Living to Please the Lord God”

We, humans, are a fickle bunch. We say we wish the Lord God would tell us how to live.

Well, He does, but what He says doesn’t always suit us.
So we try to find words form the Bible and others, perhaps a book that okays the way we would like to live.

Please read the following verses
1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
1Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact, you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.
2 For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God;
6 and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you.

7 For God did not call us to be impure but to live a holy life. 8 Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

How foolish it is to choose to live our way over the Lord’s way. I have said it before, I will say it many times more.

When our style of living doesn’t match up to the way the Lord God calls us to live, may we always change our lives to fit scripture.

It is very dangerous to change the Word of God.
In fact, scripture puts it this way.
These are the last words recorded in Bis Word.

Revelation 22:18-21
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.
19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Let those who have ears and eyes hear and see.
